This is a very special wildlife experience to a remote seal colony on the spectacular south coast not far from Sea Dragon Lodge & Villas. The colony is on private property, so you won’t encounter any other tourists.

Most guests who have been on this tour rate it as one of the best wildlife experiences they have had. You need to be fit enough to walk up and down a steepish track. Refreshments are served on cliffs near the colony overlooking stunning views.

We start our scenic journey with first stop being picturesque Pennington Bay. The on to Seal Bay Conservation Park: Home to an Australian sea lion population for thousands of years, and offering one of the most exceptional nature-based experiences in the world.

Next is Flinders Chase National Park, where you will visit Admiral’s Arch; a beautiful natural rock arch sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over thousands of years. Whilst in the National Park we will also go on a short nature walk to see Koalas in the wild.

On the way home (and depending on timing) we may visit Hanson Bay or Vivonne Bay - voted one of Australia’s best beaches.

Our scenic journey’s first stop will be  picturesque Pennington Bay, one of the island’s most photographed ocean beaches with dolphins regularly frolicking in the surf.

At Prospect Hill you can climb the stairs to the top and share the same panoramic views enjoyed by Matthew Flinders in 1802. Visit the unspoilt wetlands of Duck Lagoon to view a variety of Australian water birds and other wildlife.

Then off to what is arguably the most scenic drive on the island along the North Coast Road to Snelling Beach. Not only are the views beautiful, but we regularly see pairs of wedge-tailed eagles. Then on to Stokes Bay, where you go on an interesting walk and discover a ‘secret’ beach.

There are many different options available for those that want to try some of the island’s great food and wine. We will discuss the various options and design an itinerary that suits your interests. Below are some of the most popular venues:

Award winning Dudley Wines Cellar Door where you can try some great KI wines from the island’s pioneer wine maker.

The Oyster Farm Shop at American River to sample delicious oysters direct from the ocean.

Cliffords Honey Farm to enjoy the different varieties of honey on offer and learn about the history of the Ligurian Bees.

Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery and Kangaroo Island Ciders.

Wine tasting at The Islander Estate. Jacques Lurton is arguably one of the best wine makers on Kangaroo Island.

Award-winning Kangaroo Island Spirits to sample handmade Gin, Vodka and Liqueurs.

Kangaroo Island Brewery offers a range of great handcrafted beers.

There are over 200 species of Australian birds on Kangaroo Island. Our bird-expert guide will tailor make an itinerary to focus on types of birds you would most like to view.

Popular locations include Lashmar Lagoon, Chapman River, Duck Lagoon and Murrays Lagoon to see water birds as well as many other Australian bird species.

Wedge Tailed eagles are widespread across the island, however if you want to see these majestic creatures up close and personal, then Raptor Domain showcases many of Australia’s raptors such as the majestic Wedge Tail eagle. Most of the birds in the free-flight presentation have been injured or orphaned and are not suitable for release. They are now amazing ambassadors for their species. Every day these beautiful birds enjoy showing people their hunting techniques and natural behaviours.

This tour also includes other wildlife spotting and sightseeing opportunities which will be discussed and included where possible in your personalised itinerary.
